First Googlebook laptops to launch with Gemini in the system: pre-orders open September 21
Pre-orders for the first Googlebook laptops will open on September 21, 2026 at 09:00 US Eastern Time. In the operating system, Gemini Intelligence powers Magic Pointer and Create My Widget. Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo will release the first wave.
Before Googlebook, phone apps had to be installed separately on a laptop, and files had to be transferred manually. Now Cast My Apps opens Android smartphone apps without a separate installation, while Quick Access shows phone files directly in the file browser without transferring them.
AI in the system. Googlebook combines ChromeOS and Android in the flagship laptop category. Gemini Intelligence will become the core of the system: Magic Pointer works with a selected on-screen object, while Create My Widget creates a widget from a text prompt. Connecting a smartphone requires Android 17 or later.
On September 21, pre-orders for the first Googlebook wave from five manufacturers will begin.
