Kimi K3 goes free in Cline Desktop for a limited time
On September 18, 2026, Cline made Kimi K3 free in Cline Desktop for a limited time. Cline Desktop is a beta app for macOS and Windows with no editor required, and v0.0.32 fixed a launch issue after an update. ClinePass costs $9.99 per month and provides a quota 2–5 times higher than standard API limits.

Cline was an agent in the editor and terminal, and on July 19, 2026, Kimi K3 arrived in ClinePass alongside CLI v3.0.45. Now the model is temporarily available for free in the standalone Cline Desktop app.
How to enable it. Sign in to your Cline account, select the Cline (usage-billing) or ClinePass provider, then choose Kimi K3. A separate Moonshot AI API key is not required for ClinePass.
Kimi K3's reference price in ClinePass is $3 per 1 million input tokens and $15 per 1 million output tokens.
Cline promises to keep free access available for as long as it can.
