EV charging gets faster: Geely does it in 4.5 minutes
On Sep 23, Geely charged the Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 from 10% to 70% in 4 minutes 30 seconds. The system uses a 2.2 MW charging station and a high-speed battery. The Xingrui PowerMind AI model coordinates the vehicle, battery, and charging station.
In March, BYD claimed 5 minutes to charge from 10% to 70%. Geely has now cut that interval by 30 seconds. Reuters notes that the measurements were taken at normal temperature using 2.2 MW infrastructure.
AI controls heat. Xingrui PowerMind predicts battery temperature 30 seconds ahead and adjusts charging power. Geely says that, together with pulsed lithium-ion recovery, this increases battery cycle life by 20%.
The 6C battery version will debut in the Geely Galaxy E5 and charge from 10% to 70% in approximately 8 minutes 25 seconds.
