Opus 5.5 makes agents cheaper: API prices down 20%
As of September 22, Opus 5.5 costs $4 per 1 million input tokens and $20 per 1 million output tokens. In Claude Code, enable the model with `claude --model claude-opus-5-5` or through `/model`.

Opus 5 previously cost $5 and $25 per 1 million tokens. Now Anthropic has cut both prices by one fifth while keeping the context at 1 million tokens.
Long tasks. Anthropic increased five-hour limits for paid subscriptions and added a deferred limit reset. Fast mode promises speeds up to 2.5 times higher, but costs twice as much and is available only through the Claude API.
In an early Anthropic test, the model ran a task across six repositories for more than 18 hours. In its test, CodeRabbit saw more bugs found, but also more comments and token usage.
When migrating from Opus 5, change the model ID to `claude-opus-5-5` and choose an effort level instead of an explicit thinking setting.
