AI actors become conversation partners: Tilly Norwood spoke Cantonese
On Sep 18, during an interview with Piers Morgan, Tilly Norwood fell silent after Tom Conti asked about Misaligned and began speaking Cantonese.
In July, Particle6 described Misaligned as an early-stage hybrid feature film with human directors, screenwriters, and editors. The Tilly Norwood website still labels Misaligned as a film in development. Now, the Talk to Tilly button opens a separate video call after signing in with Google, Apple, or an email code.
Eline van der Velden, CEO of Particle6, called the switch to Cantonese a demonstration of its language capabilities. Talking Tilly runs until Sep 27, 23:59 Pacific Time.
A standalone service. Particle6 calls Talking Tilly an interview experiment with an LLM, a 12-page system prompt, a knowledge base of up to 30 documents, an AI voice, and real-time video. The company said it supports up to 75 simultaneous conversations in around 30 languages with latency of about 2 seconds.
The platform records image and voice during the video call, deletes the recording after 24 hours, and retains the transcript for up to 8 weeks.
Talking Tilly will end on Sep 27 at 23:59 Pacific Time.
