Text can be handed over to AI for directing: Claude Opus 5.5 assembled its first scene
On Sep 26, Dan Shipper tasked Claude Opus 5.5 with turning a novelization of Plato's Protagoras into the first scene of a film. The video runs 190 seconds. Opus 5.5 is available in the Claude API under the ID `claude-opus-5-5`.

Opus 5.5 supports 1 million context tokens—enough for an average novel in full. The model accepts text and images, and its response can be up to 128,000 tokens long.
New version pricing. Anthropic says typical token-billed tasks cost 40% less than with Opus 5. One million input tokens cost $4, while one million output tokens cost $20. Batch API pricing is half as much.
Adaptive thinking is always enabled in the API. It cannot be turned off, and the depth of reasoning is set with the `effort` parameter.
Claude Opus 5.5 has also been announced for AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry.
