AMD Takes Over a 3D Worlds Developer: World Labs Valued at $8.2 Billion
On Sep 28, AMD agreed to acquire World Labs in an $8.2 billion all-stock deal. After closing, Fei-Fei Li will become AMD's executive vice president and chief scientist, reporting to Lisa Su. Justin Johnson and Ben Mildenhall will continue to lead the World Labs team.

**A long-standing partnership became an acquisition.** AMD and World Labs had been working since 2025 on training and inference for World Labs models on AMD GPUs. In February 2026, World Labs raised $1 billion, and AMD was already among its investors.
