dot tracks an important topic in Slack: forward a message to the AI agent
A forwarded message sets the topic, while a separate instruction to monitor it regularly defines when dot should notify you.

Sharing a prompt I often use with my dot: 1. I spot something important in Slack 2. I click "Forward" and send it to @.ae-dot 3. Prompt: "Keep an eye on this"

Dot receives an important Slack message and the instruction "Keep an eye on this." To monitor it regularly, it needs channels and notification criteria.
Set up monitoring. Create a dot in ChatGPT on your computer through the app or browser, following the initial setup. Creation is not yet available on mobile. Open Add in the dot's profile and connect Slack using an available method.
You can then send dot direct messages or add it to a channel and mention it in a thread. When forwarding an important message, specify which topic to monitor, which channels to watch and which changes should trigger a notification. Ask it to confirm the recurring task: adding it to a channel alone does not start monitoring.
Access and pricing. According to OpenAI's help documentation as of Oct 2, the first dot is included in Pro and Business Premium at no extra charge. Deep work has a usage quota, with higher limits in the first month. In Enterprise, an administrator must enable Use dots (Beta) and Add dots to Slack and Microsoft Teams, after which each user sets up the connection separately.
OpenAI announced dots on Sep 29, 2026, for users aged 18 and over. At launch, Pro access excludes the EEA, Switzerland and the UK, while the Enterprise beta is disabled by default.
Dot runs on its own cloud computer and remains available when your computer is off. To work with a repository through Codex Cloud, first create an environment there with the required repository and configuration.
An instruction to monitor a topic is set up as a recurring dot task.
