Save recurring tasks in GitHub Copilot: dynamic workflows available on all plans
Copilot creates a workflow from a process description, and the saved version can be reused or shared with a team.

Since Oct 1, Copilot has been able to automate work with desktop applications on macOS and Windows. Computer use is available in public preview.
Repeatable processes. In GitHub Copilot, ask the agent to create a workflow for a task you perform regularly. In the CLI, first update via `/update` and enable `/experimental on`. No additional setup is required in Copilot app.
By default, a created workflow exists only in the current session. To reuse it, copy the directory containing `extension.mjs` to `~/.copilot/extensions/`. To share it with a team, place it in the repository's `.github/extensions/` directory: this method is described in GitHub's documentation as of Oct 2.
Computer use is enabled separately. In Copilot CLI, run `/computer on`; in Copilot app, open Settings > Computer Use > Enable Computer Use.
Multiple repositories. Previously, chats within a single VS Code session shared a folder. In version 1.140, released on Sep 30, each chat can work with its own folder or worktree, a separate working copy of a repository. Enable `chat.agentHost.copilotAgent.multiRootEnabled` in your user `settings.json` and ask Copilot to create a peer chat for a second repository.
Dependencies can be reused across worktrees. Set folder patterns, such as `node_modules`, in `git.worktreeSymlinkFolders`. New worktrees will receive links to those folders in the current working copy instead of reinstalling dependencies.
HydraFusion previously ran in the CLI, and has also been available in VS Code and Copilot app since Sep 30. In VS Code 1.140+, select it from the model picker. If it is missing, enable `chat.copilot.hydraFusion.enabled`. In the app, update and enable HydraFusion through Settings.
GitHub has added Claude Sonnet 5.5 and GPT-6.1 Sol to the model picker. Sonnet has been available since Sep 28, with a gradual rollout. GPT-6.1 Sol has been available since Sep 29.
| Model | Copilot plans | Where to select it | | --- | --- | --- | | Claude Sonnet 5.5 | Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, Enterprise | Model picker in VS Code, CLI and Copilot app | | GPT-6.1 Sol | Pro+, Max, Business, Enterprise | Model picker in VS Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI and coding agent |
GitHub's documentation as of Oct 2 lists the following rates for inputs of up to 272,000 tokens. Prices in the table are in dollars per million tokens.
| Model | Input | Output | Cache read | Cache write | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Claude Sonnet 5.5 | $2 | $10 | $0.20 | $2.50 | | GPT-6.1 Sol | $2 | $10 | $0.10 | $2.50 |
On Oct 2, Copilot app added 3 Azure canvases, workspaces for Azure tasks. They are designed for querying resources, reviewing costs and working with skills on Azure Functions.
Azure canvases can be installed from the Awesome Copilot marketplace through Customize > Plugins.
