Granola notes without opening the app: an AI agent retrieves them through MCP
Granola captures meeting context, and you can work with it through your own agent without opening notes manually.

I asked Sam, co-founder of @meetgranola, how he feels when people bypass his interface and get the job done through MCP instead. Here's what he said: "As an interface designer, it does make me a little sad. For a while we fought it. We said: no, we need everyone to do everything in the Granola interface. But once a company gets big enough, it inevitably builds its own internal tools. If Granola doesn't work with them, it won't even be considered. Now we've accepted that for a number of workflows the best way to use Granola is to capture the context and then work with it through your own internal agent." π Full episode here: https://youtu.be/3IF3H5dxU3U
"Using our product should lower your blood pressure and make you feel calm." Here's my new episode with @samstphenson, co-founder of @meetgranola, one of my favorite AI apps ever. I asked Sam some hard questions, including: β How do you think about design when agents just skip your UI in favor of your MCP? β When anyone can ship to prod, how do you avoid pumping out slop? β How do you build a successful AI startup without 996 culture? Some quotes from Sam: "It's so easy to make stuff. The hard thing is knowing what to make." "There's definitely a pang of sadness in the UI designer part of me." "The team works very hard. But there's also just so much more to life than writing code and building software." π Watch now: https://youtu.be/3IF3H5dxU3U Thanks to our sponsors: @linear: The AI agent platform for modern teams https://linear.app/behind-the-craft @RiversidedotFM: All-in-one AI studio for podcasts and video https://creators.riverside.com/PeterYang

Previously, you had to find meeting notes in Granola and copy them into an AI app. Since February 2026, the official MCP has given apps direct access to those notes.
Granola co-founder Sam admits that the team initially wanted to keep all workflows within its own interface. It now embraces a different approach: Granola records context, and employees use it through their company's internal agent. According to Sam, large companies inevitably build their own tools, and Granola needs to work with them.
From meeting to code. Granola suggests connecting notes to Claude Code and Cursor to create tickets for bugs discussed in a meeting or scaffold a feature based on what was agreed. These are examples provided by the company.
How to connect your notes. For Claude Code, run `claude mcp add granola --transport http https://mcp.granola.ai/mcp`. Launch `claude` in a new terminal tab and use `/mcp` to select Granola β Authenticate.
In Claude, the connection is under Settings β Connectors β Granola: after authenticating in your browser, enable the connector in the chat. In ChatGPT, find Granola in Settings, connect it, and invoke it with @Granola.
A custom MCP client connects to `https://mcp.granola.ai/mcp` using Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.0. It acts on behalf of the user, so an API key or service account will not work.
Access by plan as of Oct 5, 2026:
| Plan | Price per user per month | MCP access | | --- | --- | --- | | Basic | $0 | Personal notes from the last 30 days | | Business | $14 | Unlimited history, personal and public workspace notes | | Enterprise | $35 | Admins configure access to personal and public notes |
MCP allows an average of around 100 requests per minute across all tools combined. The exact limit depends on the plan and tool.

Connecting through Enterprise-Managed Authorization requires Enterprise with SSO, a compatible IdP, and a compatible MCP client; Granola tested the combination of Claude and Okta.
