Start a code review from X: OpenClaw opens a work session when its bot is mentioned
The team agent picks up a task from a thread, opens a session and posts the link back to the same thread.

I connected our team claw to X to get work started faster. Anyone can claim an unassigned session. Our agent checks who last worked on the relevant code and tags those people on the server. I did it all with one prompt, and the team server added the capabilities it needed itself: plugins can now be hot reloaded.

The bot opened a session to review PR #166379: check contrast, sidebar header spacing, and regressions.
OpenClaw connects conversations on X with an AI agent's work on a team server. Any team member can claim an unassigned session. The agent finds whoever last worked on the affected code and tags them on the server.
A task from the thread. The X plugin turns a bot mention into a conversation with an agent and posts the reply in the same thread. If the agent creates a visible work session, the plugin includes its first link in the reply. A private session is labeled “Work session — sign-in required”.
The OpenClaw team already uses team.openclaw.ai to build the project itself. Within the conversation, members create a Worktree, collaborate in a session, review the diff, and check tests. They then publish a PR and monitor CI.
How to connect X. The plugin is included in OpenClaw builds under `extensions/x`. To install it from a local checkout on OpenClaw 2026.9.8, use `openclaw plugins install --link ./extensions/x`. Connecting requires a confidential OAuth2 application with these permissions:
- `tweet.read`; - `tweet.write`; - `users.read`; - `offline.access`.
Bot details, credentials, and members' numeric IDs are configured in `channels.x`, with the IDs listed in `allowFrom`. By default, only members on this list can invoke the agent; direct messages are not supported. Verify the connection with `openclaw config validate`, `openclaw channels status`, and a bot mention.
The `openclaw setup --team` command starts setup for a small team, while `--agent-name` sets the coordinator's name. The official Team server guide requires a Linux host with persistent storage and OpenClaw installed. Access uses a domain managed by Cloudflare, Zero Trust and cloudflared, individual sign-in through GitHub identity, and operator roles.
According to the documentation dated Oct 7, 2026, the plugin's default spending limits are $100 per day and $1,000 per billing cycle per account. These amounts cover the X API. Model tokens are billed separately.
The server added the integration from a single prompt thanks to hot reloading for plugins. After changes to an external plugin's source files or manifest, `openclaw plugins reload <ids...>` replaces it in the running Gateway without a restart. The command does not build the code.
Version 2026.9.7, released on Sep 7, 2026, introduced `--wait`: it lets reloading wait longer than the usual 60 seconds for ongoing work to finish. Run the command outside the conversation that uses the plugin.
A single reload command accepts up to 64 distinct plugin IDs.
