GMI Cloud previously offered 12 hours of free access. Starting Oct 9, the promotion for Qwen3.8-Max, Qwen3.8-Flash and Wan3.0 has been extended to 7 days.
GMI Cloud has also increased the rate limits for all three models. You can connect Qwen to an AI agent to work on an app and use Wan to generate video.
How to activate access. New accounts qualify after signing up and topping up their balance to $10. Existing accounts with a balance of at least $10 already qualify; calls to the three models during the promotion do not deduct any of that money.
Create a key in GMI Cloud Console → Settings → API Keys. GMI Cloud recommends using this key to connect the models to OpenCode, Hermes Agent and other tools that support the OpenAI-compatible API.
To call Qwen3.8-Max directly, send a POST request to `https://api.gmi-serving.com/v1/chat/completions` with the header `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_GMI_API_KEY` and the field `model: "Qwen/Qwen3.8-Max"`. GMI Cloud's Aug 3 blog post includes a ready-to-use cURL command.
What you can build. GMI Cloud lists a context window of 1 million tokens and responses of up to 131,000 tokens for Qwen3.8-Max: these limits determine how much material you can send to the model and receive in a single request. Wan3.0-video generates up to 30 seconds of video with audio in a single pass, at resolutions from 480p to 1080p. Both model families are AI tools for work, with access through GMI Cloud.
GMI Cloud will also hold a contest for projects built with Qwen or Wan. To enter, showcase your work and tag @gmi_cloud and either @Alibaba_Qwen or @Alibaba_Wan. The company will choose 3 winners based on originality, task complexity and effort invested; each will receive $200 in cash and $200 in GMI credits.
A separate program for organizations accepts applications through the form on the promotion page until Nov 5 and offers up to $10,000 in credits per organization.
