Chinese mathematicians rally around AI: the alliance aims to bring together more than 1,000 scientists
On October 11 in Beijing, the Yau Laboratory Alliance for Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence was launched. Eight leading institutes joined forces to bring AI into mathematical research. It is led by Shing-Tung Yau, a Fields Medal winner.

The alliance covers four areas: specialized AI models for mathematics, hypothesis generation, formal proof, and reasoning systems that are easier to interpret. The goal is a network of more than 1,000 scientists.
Warning. The alliance's head, Shing-Tung Yau, warned that China lags behind the US in using AI for cutting-edge science.
The source does not give a timeline for the alliance's first results.
