Claude Code comes to Singapore's public sector: more than 1,500 GovTech engineers now use it
On Oct 14, Anthropic opened an office in Singapore: the country ranks second of 121 in Claude usage per capita.

At GovTech Singapore, more than 1,500 engineers and technical staff work in Claude Code.
That is the scale of an entire government IT agency, not a pilot in a single department. On Oct 14, Anthropic opened its fifth Asia-Pacific office in Singapore and signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI).
The region used to run on four offices. Tokyo, Bengaluru, Seoul and Sydney covered Asia and Australia. Singapore now joins them, and a dedicated team handles Southeast Asia.
Customers are counting hours. Grab's sales assistant BriX runs on Claude and saves its sales teams about 40,000 hours a quarter. Anthropic lists DBS, GIC and Supabase among its customers, and the country's cybersecurity agency is exploring Claude for network defense.
The memorandum covers technical work: exchanges with Singapore's safety institutes on model evaluation, testing standards and incident response. Separate provisions cover training civil servants, helping small and medium-sized businesses adopt AI, and sharing research data, including the Anthropic Economic Index.
The ground was prepared in advance. More than 300 developers came to the Builder Summit in Singapore, and more than 700 people attended the Claude ambassadors meetup.
The office is already hiring: in September it listed nine openings, from sales to applied AI.
