An AI agent now handles shared family tasks: CC works with groups of up to 6 people
On September 17, Google Labs expanded CC to groups of up to 6 people. Every morning, the agent sends the shared group a Your Day Ahead summary, tracks dates and tasks, and links them to Google Calendar and Tasks. In the U.S., new users join a waitlist, while Google promises existing users an email to switch over.
On December 16, 2025, Google launched CC for working with Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and the web. Now CC brings that work together for a group of up to 6 people, with each person using their own Google account and separate permissions.
A shared day. Users can forward CC emails from selected senders, send one-off information by email or Google Chat, share Google Drive files and folders, and add the agent to a calendar.
Everyday errands. With the user's permission, CC fills in PDF forms, including permission slips and event applications, makes shopping lists, and plans a weekly menu. It connects to Gmail, Google Chat, Docs, and Calendar and works with Gemini.
What makes it an agent. It is an LLM-based program that plans its own steps, calls tools, and carries a task through to a result. 30 of 51 tools in a market census dated August 17, 2026 use agent or agentic in their self-description. DeepSeek, xAI, and Earendil call their tools agent harness, while GigaCode, SourceCraft, and Kodify choose the words "assistant" and "helper".
The path to groups. In 2023, AutoGPT gained 100,000 stars in a few months, but almost no products made it over the finish line. In May 2026, the original CC idea appeared in Gemini as the Daily Brief feature. Google required a personal U.S. account for users 18+, a connected Google Workspace, enabled Memory, and English-only use. Google Labs has now moved the same principle from a personal brief to shared family tasks.
For now, Google is launching CC only in the U.S.: existing users are promised an email, while new users remain on the waitlist.
