Cline can now handle tasks in Chrome: Jev plugin available in Marketplace
On September 18, 2026, Cline unveiled the Jev Browser plugin for Cline Desktop. It launches Chrome in the background and carries out a browser task on command. Jev's creators claim speeds 20–200 times higher and costs 40–400 times lower when output tokens are not billed.

We built a plugin that brings the Jev browser to Cline, and the results blew us away. 1. Install it in our new desktop app: Customize > Marketplace > Plugins. Find `jev-browser`. 2. Create an API key in Vercel AI Gateway. Then save it in `~/.cline/plugins/cline-jev-browser.config.json` in the format `{"gateway":{"apiKey":"..."}}` and restart Cline. 3. Describe any task for the browser. The plugin will launch Chrome in the background and complete it.

Jev Browser was launched separately via MCP, CLI, or a library. Now Cline installs it as a plugin in Cline Desktop, and the browser step runs from a regular task.
Installation. In Cline Desktop, open Customize → Marketplace → Plugins and find `jev-browser`. Create an API key in Vercel AI Gateway, save it in `~/.cline/plugins/cline-jev-browser.config.json` as `{"gateway":{"apiKey":"..."}}`, and restart Cline.
After restarting, describe a task for the browser. The plugin launches Chrome in the background and completes it. In the README, moving from the Coffee page to Espresso on Wikipedia took about 4 seconds and cost $0.0016. Runs are limited by default to 24 steps and 180 seconds.
Vercel added Jev to AI Gateway on September 16, 2026, and the catalog lists a price of $0.04 per 1 million input tokens.
