Grok 4.7 takes on long tasks: Tesla's overnight agents shipped FSD and Cybercab features
On September 22, Grok 4.7 with a 500 000-token context window began doing engineering work at Tesla. The model is the default in Grok Build and is also available in Cursor and through the xAI API. Overnight agents helped ship FSD and Cybercab features.

Previously, Grok 4.6 High scored 40,4% on CursorBench 4.0 and 53,0% on EEBench. Grok 4.7 xHigh scored 46,3% and 64,0%, according to SpaceXAI data from September 21. Artificial Analysis ranked Grok 4.7 xHigh 4th in its Coding Agent Index: 56 points, 9 more than the previous version.
Longer work. Grok 4.7 scored 46 points on the Intelligence Index versus 44 for Grok 4.6, but used 81 000 output tokens per task instead of 38 000. Over recent weeks, the Grok Build teams improved self-checking, reasoning efficiency, control over long tasks, and work with VLMs.
Where to run it. On macOS, Linux, and WSL, install Grok Build with `curl -fsSL https://x.ai/cli/install.sh | bash`; run `grok` in the project directory, then browser authorization opens. The API requires a console.x.ai account, credits, an `XAI_API_KEY`, and the `grok-4.7` identifier.
The API costs $2 per million input tokens, $6 per million output tokens, and $0,50 for cached input. Separate pricing applies after 200 000 tokens. In us-east-1, the limit is 150 requests per second and 50 million tokens per minute; Batch API is not supported.
Grok 4.7 Fast runs twice as fast and costs twice as much: the version is available only in Cursor and Grok Build, with no free tier or public API.
