Cloud and business AI could move under one roof: Yandex and VK discuss a 50-50 company
Under the scenario cited by RBC sources, Yandex Cloud, Yandex 360, and all of VK Tech will go into the combined company, with ownership split equally.

For two months, Yandex and VK have been bringing their enterprise software together in a joint company. They are discussing an equal split.
For those who keep projects in the Russian cloud and run models through APIs, this means one vendor instead of two: market participants estimate that the combined structure will account for around 30% of the enterprise cloud and software segment.
What is being combined. Under the scenario described by RBC sources on 22.09.2026, the joint venture will include all of VK Tech, while Yandex will contribute Yandex Cloud, Yandex 360, and AI assets from the Yandex B2B Tech structure. The legal entity is under discussion as BTB Tech LLC. Yandex does not comment on the rumor, while VK Tech declined to comment.
The two halves differ financially. In the first half of 2026, Yandex B2B Tech generated 28,9 billion rubles in revenue, while VK Tech earned 9,0 billion. The Yandex side is three times larger, yet equal ownership is under discussion.
On 1 July 2026, the parties called this a strategic partnership in cloud services, workplace tools, and AI, without ownership stakes or a shared legal entity. Now the discussion is about a full-fledged joint venture with contributed assets. The market is also growing more slowly: Russian cloud services grew 29,2% in 2025 to 416,5 billion rubles, while iKS-Consulting expects growth of around 20% in 2026.
What changes for practitioners. In the first half of 2026, 597 billion commercial tokens passed through the Yandex AI Studio API, 18 times more year on year. More than 30 000 AI agents were built on the platform, while Yandex Cloud has 64 thousand customers and 858 partners. All of this will end up in one company alongside VK Tech services.
Once the joint venture is formed, Russia's enterprise cloud market will have two power centers: Yandex with VK versus Cloud.ru, which accounted for 32,5% of IaaS and PaaS revenue in 2025.
