Meta's AI agent reaches Mac: Muse is available as a standalone app
On September 22, Meta introduced a dedicated Muse app for macOS. The AI agent is already available in the US through iOS, Android, and muse.ai. Meta promises a launch for its AI glasses “soon.”
Previously, Muse worked through iOS, Android, and the browser. Now it can run as a standalone app on a Mac, and Meta says the basic version will be enough for most tasks.
Money and access. Meta announced subscriptions for expanded use but did not name prices or limits. The user chooses which apps to connect and Muse’s access level, while the agent asks for confirmation before sending an email or making a purchase.
Security check. Patrick Wardle demonstrated a PoC: a local process could redirect Muse dictation to an attacker’s server, then intercept audio, prompts, and access data. Meta reported a hotfix, and the attack requires malware already running under the Mac user’s account; Meta offers up to $300 000 for vulnerability reports, including up to $130 000 for prompt injection affecting one user.
