One character across a series of frames: Midjourney explains Edit Model in 189 seconds
On Sep 24, Midjourney published a 189-second video about the Edit Model for consistent characters. The model accepts up to four reference images and, in V8.X, replaces Omni Reference and Character Reference.

V8.2 became the default Midjourney version on Jul 24 and moved character work, retexturing, and edits into Edit Model. On the website, upload an image in the Edit tab, through the lightbox, or in the Attach to prompt field. In Discord, use `--edit` and the image URL.
Edit cost. One Edit Model request uses roughly one minute of Fast GPU time in SD or 2.3 minutes in HD. The model preserves the proportions of the first image, while a new format is set with `--ar`; `--raw` reduces Midjourney's usual stylization. Edit Model works with V8.1, V8.2, Image Prompts, Style References, Moodboards, Personalization, and `--hd`, but not with Remix or `--tile`.
Only the owner can see uploaded external images and their edited results in the Editor.
