Edit images precisely: Midjourney changes only selected pixels
On Sep 24, Midjourney began changing only the pixels selected by the user in inpainting. In V8.1 and V8.2, the company also updated `--tile` for seamless patterns and showed fast models on its alpha site.

A few quick updates today! We are releasing a new `--tile` version for seamless patterns in V8.1 and V8.2. We are releasing a new inpainting version that changes only the pixels you select, and showing an early version of real-time models on our alpha site. Enjoy!

Previously, the selected area did not constrain changes as tightly. Now, open an image through Edit, erase the required fragment with the Erase tool, describe the replacement in the Imagine bar, and click Submit Edit. Midjourney returns 4 variations.
Edit Model accepts up to 4 reference images. Launch it through Attach to prompt, Quick Edit, Open Editor, or `--edit URL` in Discord. The model does not yet work with `--tile`, and its results cannot be used with Remix.
Patterns. Midjourney released a new `--tile` version for V8.1 and V8.2 to replace the previous one. Add the parameter to the end of a prompt in the Imagine bar or Discord, and the model will create a single tile. On the site, check seamlessness by double-clicking the image; upscaling often breaks it.
V8.2 is currently the default. Switch versions with the `--v #` parameter in a prompt or through Settings.
Fast selection. On alpha.midjourney.com, enable Live previews in the Styles tab and scroll through styles. Clicking a style sends the current prompt with it.
Edit Model uses 1 minute of GPU time in SD and 2.3 minutes in HD. A regular prompt costs 0.8 and 1.3 minutes respectively. Midjourney subscriptions cost $10, $30, $60, or $120 per month, and Stealth Mode is available only in Pro and Mega. V8.X Edit Model creations are visible to other site members without Stealth Mode.
