On Jan 21, 2026, a court in Bengaluru ruled in O.S.No.4956/2011, leaving AI prompts and answers alongside its reasoning. The text includes the phrases “If you want, I can” and “Got it -- thanks for the correction”.
The dialogue first corrected an assumption about a life interest. The published ruling then retained the correction, ChatGPT's “Got it -- thanks for the correction” reply, and a new argument about an absolute bequest.
A public document. The Reasons section contains “xxxxxxxxxxxxxx”, and the text also includes a prompt about the consequences of the first wife's death in 2009. A working dialogue with the model made its way into the published ruling alongside the legal reasoning.
The ruling brought an end to a case that had lasted 14 years 6 months 9 days.
