Claude Code gets more context: Sonnet 5.5 with a 1 million-token window
On Sep 28, Claude Code added Claude Sonnet 5.5 with a 1 million-token context window. In the Anthropic API, it became the default Sonnet model. Input costs $2, output costs $10 per million tokens, and cache reads cost $0.20.
Claude Code previously did not include Sonnet 5.5. Now the agent can keep more code and conversation in a single task, and `claude update` applies the release right away and displays the old and new versions.
Less manual work. In auto mode, you can allow one read outside the working directory while keeping the prompt for the next one. `/mcp reconnect all` reconnects every MCP server that lacked authorization or a connection.
The `claude-code` Homebrew channel usually trails native releases by about a week, while `claude-code@latest` gets them immediately.
