On Oct 4, Cline paused its free DeepSeek V4.1 Flash promotion over an abnormally high level of abuse.
Free access is halted. As recently as Sep 26, the author of the J-Bot Review guide listed the free ID `cline/cline-free/deepseek-v4.1-flash`. Now Cline has paused the promotion that let people use the model at no cost.
For paid code review, the same guide points to the model `cline/deepseek/deepseek-v4.1-flash` via Cline credits and the `cline-auth` parameter. ClinePass uses a different ID: `cline-pass/deepseek-v4.1-flash`.
Subscription and setup. According to Cline's blog from Jun 29, ClinePass costs $9.99 a month. After subscribing, select ClinePass as the provider in the IDE, CLI or SDK.
For working with a project folder there is Cline Desktop for Mac and Windows. Per Cline's guide from Sep 14, the app is distributed in beta via cline.bot/desktop: after downloading, connect a working folder and choose a model.
J-Bot measurements from Sep 23β26 give a sense of what a review with this model costs via OpenCode Go. Small PRs with 3β7 files took 7β13 minutes and cost $0.08β0.20.
A change spanning 45 files and 234 KB took 18β29 minutes and cost $0.42β0.74. For PRs like that, the author recommends raising the `time-budget-minutes` parameter.
Cline is investigating the abuse and working to take action against it.
