As of Oct 2, DeepSeek Harness is available as a ready-to-run app. The Mac build requires Apple silicon and macOS 13 or later; Windows requires a 64-bit system.
Harness works with models through APIs and a selected project folder. Alongside running from source, ready-to-run apps are now available on the official Downloads page.
First launch. In Settings → Models, enter your DeepSeek API key and save the settings. The model will become available without restarting the server. Then use Choose workspace to add and select a project folder: the task input field is disabled until you do.
On Linux, after installing Node.js, run: `npx @deepseek-ai/dsh web`. The interface will open in your browser at `http://127.0.0.1:3080`. The package requires Node.js version `^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0`.
Models and billing. The built-in official models require a DeepSeek account and prepaid credit on DeepSeek Open Platform. You can connect your own API without signing up for Harness, paying your provider for API calls.
Use Add model provider to connect these providers with an API key:
- Anthropic. - OpenAI. - Kimi. - GLM.
OAuth sign-in, including Codex, is not yet supported: connecting OpenAI requires an API key.
Connect your own server or gateway through Custom model API. In the settings, specify a Provider ID, base URL, key and at least one model. Harness supports these protocols:
- OpenAI Chat Completions. - OpenAI Responses. - Anthropic Messages.
Running from source remains available alongside the ready-to-run apps and npm package.
