Cline Desktop comes to Linux: packages available for x86_64 and arm64
The AI agent runs as a standalone app in early beta, and you can get started with free models without a paid provider.

In v0.0.39, released on Sep 30, Cline fixed a blank window on Linux with the proprietary NVIDIA driver.
The Cline team added Linux support on Sep 24 in Desktop v0.0.35. The first packages were released for x64. As of Sep 30, the official download page offers .deb and .rpm packages for x86_64 and arm64.
Getting started. After installation, open your project folder and select a Git branch. Then choose a provider and model, create a session, and describe the task. You can switch models as you work on the project.
Paying for models. Desktop offers free promotional models up to a quota, including DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash and Space Bunny Alpha. The current selection is shown in the app. For BYOK, you can connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI, or Gemini API key, as well as a local endpoint.
ClinePass costs $9.99 per month as of Sep 30. To connect it, you need an account and subscription, then select ClinePass as your provider in Desktop. The vendor claims 2–5 times more usage than standard API pricing. DeepSeek V4.1 Flash has replaced DeepSeek V4 Flash in the subscription.
The Linux version downloads updates in the background and installs them after you select Restart now.
