Atlassian codes with Codex: 3,000 developers at the company use the agent
Atlassian is expanding access to OpenAI models and connecting AI agents to teams' work items and documentation.

As of Oct 6, more than 3,000 Atlassian developers use Codex in the terminal, IDE and code reviews through ChatGPT Enterprise.
Atlassian and OpenAI have been working together since 2023. Under the new agreement, GPT-6 models will power Atlassian agents and Rovo. Atlassian also gains expanded access to GPT-6 Astra and the GPT-5.6 series.
Context for code. Atlassian developers connect Codex to Atlassian MCP so the agent can access current Jira tasks and technical documentation. This connection requires access to Atlassian Cloud, a ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise subscription, and either Codex CLI or an IDE extension with MCP support. To connect: add the server, complete OAuth and open the repository.
The Atlassian plugin brings work context directly into ChatGPT or Codex. After installing it from the directory and connecting an Atlassian account, type @, select the plugin, then find and add a Jira task, Confluence content or a person.
Pinned Atlassian Home brings work materials together in one place:
- Assigned Jira tasks. - Confluence content. - Recent Loom recordings. - Goals. - Projects. - Pull requests from Bitbucket.
Selecting an item opens a conversation with a ready-made prompt.
Connecting through the terminal. TWG CLI gives the agent access to Teamwork Graph, which connects the team's work knowledge. On macOS and Linux, the vendor provides this installation command:
```sh curl -fsSL --retry 2 https://teamwork-graph.atlassian.com/cli/install | bash ```
The installer adds agent skills, launches OAuth in the browser and runs `twg doctor`. For installation by an agent, Atlassian provides a ready-made prompt:
```text Install/setup TWG using https://teamwork-graph.atlassian.com/cli/AGENTS.md. ```
TWG CLI is free to install. According to the documentation as of Oct 5โ6, most Enriched TWG API calls consume 1โ10 Rovo credits per call. Connecting sources, retrieving metadata, discovering available tools and writing data are free.

Atlassian will begin enforcing Rovo credit limits on Dec 3, 2026, and organizations must separately enable paid usage beyond those limits.
