- June 2023: Dropbox introduced Dash, a universal AI search across work apps, alongside Dropbox AI for files.
- October 2021: Dropbox acquired startup Command E, whose search technology became the foundation of Dash.
- October 2025: Dropbox acquired Mobius Labs and added semantic image search to Dash — an image is found by a description of its contents rather than its file name.
- 2026: Dash added an MCP server through which third-party AI apps, including Cursor, can access enterprise search.
