OpenAI will not turn profitable by 2030: negative cash flow will total $278 billion
OpenAI projects $278 billion in negative free cash flow for 2026–2030. Revenue is expected to grow from $36 billion in 2026 to $350 billion in 2030, totaling $840 billion over the period. The company plans to spend about $856 billion on compute and infrastructure.
OpenAI currently reports about $2 billion in monthly revenue, or roughly a $24 billion annual run rate (03.07.2026). Its 2026 forecast assumes $36 billion while the company continues to increase spending on compute. The $122 billion raised in March is projected to last until 2028.
