Google TPU capacity is now sold by a separate company: Crux AI brings 500 MW online in 2027
The operator launched on September 9 with $5 billion from Blackstone funds, while Google itself provides the processors and software.

Ten banks are assembling a $22 billion loan to buy Google processors.
The money is for Crux AI, a new data-center operator that officially launched on September 9. Blackstone funds contributed $5 billion in seed capital, while Google supplied TPUs, software, and services for the initial platform.
Every dollar of its own money is matched by 4,4 dollars of debt, secured by the processors themselves and signed customer contracts. The loan is still being assembled (Bloomberg, September 16, 2026, Runtime Wire review).
What they are building. The company promises to bring its first 500 MW of TPU capacity online in 2027. That is one quarter of the 2 GW target: Crux AI’s website states a deployment pace of 2 GW a year starting in the second half of 2027, while iXBT reports total capacity rising to the same 2 GW.
The company is led by Benjamin Treynor Sloss, who spent 20 years at Google and created the SRE practice there. Alan Duong joined as chief development officer after 12 years overseeing data-center design and construction at a major US technology company.
How to get capacity. You cannot, unless you are a lab or a government: Crux AI sells dedicated capacity to AI labs, large technology companies, enterprises, and governments. There is no public self-service; the website lists only job openings and a press contact.
Bloomberg Law reported delays at major planned sites on September 9. The company is maintaining its 2027 target.
The first 500 MW are promised for 2027 — that is when it will become clear whether the schedule held.
