Siri will get its own screen in the home: Apple tests display with employees

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who has been first to learn of Apple’s plans for years, writes that the home display with the new Siri will be shown in October 2026, with the launch window extending into early 2027. There has been no official announcement.

Amazon and Google have held space on the smart-home display shelf for years, while Apple has never had a device in this category. This screen will be the first piece of hardware built around Siri AI.

Two versions. The tabletop model sits on a hemispherical stand, like half a HomePod mini, while the wall-mounted one attaches magnetically. The screen is square and seven inches across: smaller than the Amazon Echo Show.

Before and now. Siri lived in the home through a speaker and answered voice with voice. Apple has now built a separate system around it from parts of iOS, tvOS and watchOS, with a home screen of widgets and watch faces in the style of Apple Watch.

What Siri AI does on this screen: finds a podcast or track someone sent in an old message, pulls up the right photo, creates a task in Notes, Reminders and Calendar. The camera recognizes faces through a simplified system without Face ID depth sensors, and shows each family member their own view.

The display needs an iPhone for setup: the device syncs with the phone. Gurman named a price a year ago, in October 2025: around $350.

The deadline moved three times: spring 2025, spring 2026, September 2026. The latest delay was caused by Siri AI itself, which was not ready. Apple unveiled the assistant on June 8, 2026 in iOS 27 and related systems, promising users a beta later in 2026, initially in English.

The device still has no name: “HomePad” was coined by the press, while Apple calls it an intelligent home hub and expects people to buy several for one home.

New Apple TV and HomePod mini models, also with Siri AI, are expected alongside the display in October.
