Surgeon builds their own software: Codex assembles tools and sifts PubMed

A surgeon builds his own work tools with Codex and uses it to sift through scientific literature in PubMed.

A surgeon writes his own working software for his specific task. With the same agent, he sifts through scientific literature in PubMed.

This is vibe coding beyond IT: the person solving the task builds the tool for it, not the person it was commissioned from.

Free entry. Codex is included in the ChatGPT free plan, with no separate subscription needed to get started (checked 17.08.2026). On 09.07, the agent moved into the main ChatGPT app; before that, it was a standalone product.

Seven entry points. The agent lives in the ChatGPT app, the terminal, and the IDE, plus four more surfaces. It has no Russian counterpart; Yandex's SourceCraft is the closest.

The long-term picture is simple: software for a narrow task stops being a project and becomes a consumable.
