On September 22, Anthropic said Claude Opus 5.5 costs 40% less than Opus 5 on typical tasks. The company calls the model a leader in agentic coding and knowledge work.
Previously, a typical task on Opus 5 cost the former price. Anthropic now promises the same workloads on Opus 5.5 at 40% lower cost.
For Anthropic's lineup, this marks a shift from Opus 5 to cheaper AI-agent operation.
