AI Handles a Fifth of Freelance Tasks: GPT-6 Astra Scores 20.83% on RLI
On September 23, GPT-6 Astra scored 20.83% in the Remote Labor Index, where a task counts if the AI result is no worse than the human benchmark. RLI is built from 240 freelance projects by 358 vetted contractors across 23 fields. For the official score, 230 tasks are closed and 10 are public.
In October 2025, Manus held the best initial RLI result: 2.5%. GPT-6 Astra reached 20.83%, 8.3 times higher. The index separates a result that can be delivered to a client from an answer that only looks convincing in chat.
How it was measured. Agents received the same prompts, tools, and a budget of up to $30 per task. The best result from the OpenHands CLI environment or the computer use GUI environment counted.
GPT-6 Astra is available through ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise, as well as via API. API calls require specifying `model: "gpt-6-astra"`. Tool calling works only through the Responses API.
The public RLI dataset and evaluation platform are already open for independent runs.
