Drivers and sellers embrace AI: Grab will train 30 000 partners
On September 23, 2026, OpenAI and Grab launched a two-year program in Southeast Asia for 30,000 drivers, couriers, and merchants. Participants will attend half-day, in-person workshops tailored to their country and type of work. After training, Grab will give them ChatGPT Plus free for 3 months.
Since 2024, Grab's Driver AI Assistant has reached nearly 500,000 drivers. Now OpenAI and Grab are teaching partners to give AI their own work tasks rather than receive tips from a prebuilt assistant.
A half day for the job. In the workshops, partners learn to use ChatGPT Work to turn sales data into a dashboard, a simple website, or a business expansion plan. Merchants are shown how to analyze sales and trends, plan revenue and promotions, and manage inventory, demand, and losses.
In a Grab survey in Singapore, 50% of drivers and couriers already use AI. Of the rest, 87% are willing to try it, and ChatGPT is the tool they recognize more often than any other.
The program starts in Singapore; Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines will join later in 2026, with Malaysia and Vietnam following in 2027.
