Doctors in 100 countries will get medical AI: OpenEvidence will become free
On September 22, Anthropic and OpenEvidence announced a free version of the service for clinicians in approximately 100 countries.
Before this initiative, OpenEvidence was available free to clinicians in the United States and Europe. The service answers doctors' questions using peer-reviewed research and treatment guidelines.
On-the-ground validation. In Rwanda, 45 clinicians are adapting OpenEvidence and checking whether it suggests medicines or diagnostic tests that are unavailable in the country. In August 2026, US clinicians asked the service 42 million questions.
The rollout will cover dozens of countries, including Uganda, Angola, Sudan, Haiti, and Mongolia.
