Videos can be checked before publishing: YouTube adds AI draft analysis
On 23 September, YouTube announced that Ask Studio will offer advice on a video draft before publication. The service will assess pacing, structure, and storytelling using retention data from past videos. YouTube is also adding successful-video search, dynamic thumbnails, and live-stream dubbing.
Previously, creators tested titles and thumbnails after publishing. Since 2024, they have run more than 40 million A/B tests on YouTube, and now the service wants to test up to three thumbnail variants for different audience segments and up to three edit versions based on the opening hook.
Draft before publication. In the web version of YouTube Studio, open Ask Studio in the top right corner, select a draft, private, or unlisted video, and ask a question. Ask Studio is available to most creators worldwide, except Official Artist Channels, Made for Kids channels, and creators under 18.
Older videos are in play too. Ask Studio will be able to analyze a channel archive, suggest new thumbnails, and test them to bring viewers back to older videos. Dynamic thumbnails will let creators select up to 3 variants, and YouTube itself will recommend them to different viewer groups.
The live auto dubbing pilot will begin in early 2027: the feature will translate live speech for listeners in a selected language.
