Claude Code already listens and browses websites: Voice mode and Browser pane
Claude Opus 5.5 launched on September 22, and on September 24 the Claude Code documentation described voice input, Browser pane, and Computer use. The model API costs $4 per 1 million input tokens and $20 per 1 million output tokens. Fast mode in Claude Code promises up to 2.5× the speed for $8 and $40.

With such a strong model, Claude Code really needs a good real-time voice mode, a browser, and computer control (the latter is getting better!). Right now, one lab has the best model, while another has the best environment around it.

Anthropic says Opus 5.5 costs 40% less than Opus 5 on typical tasks. In Terminal-Bench 4.0, the company reports 66.4% versus 57.9% for GPT-6 Astra, but Opus ran with xhigh effort and Astra with high.
The environment around the model. In Claude Code, voice is enabled with the `/voice` command: in the CLI, hold down Space, and the mode is also available in Desktop. Browser pane opens with Cmd+Shift+B on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+B on Windows, after which the agent can take screenshots, inspect the DOM, click, and fill out forms.
Browser pane opens external sites in a clean profile with no logins or history. For already authenticated sessions, Anthropic recommends the Claude in Chrome extension. After setup, the third-party Voicebridge adds the `/voicebridge:voice-agent` and `/voicebridge:voice-phone` commands.
Computer use is available as a research preview on macOS and Windows only for Pro and Max plans. Enable it after updating Claude Desktop in Settings → General → Computer use, and on macOS also grant Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions. In browsers, the mode remains view-only, while screen control is reserved for native apps and tools without APIs.
As of September 24, Computer use remains a research preview for Pro and Max plans.
