Claude Code Projects work on your computer: local support added
On September 23, Claude Code added local support for Projects: threads can run on the user's computer. Projects are in public beta for Pro and Max. Pro costs $20 per month in the US, while Max starts at $100.

We just added local support for Projects in Claude Code, so threads can now run directly on your machine.
Today we're rolling out Projects in Claude Code on desktop and web. A project is one conversation with Claude. It splits the work into threads itself, runs them as parallel cloud sessions, passes context between them, and keeps going when you leave. In beta for select users.

Previously, Projects in Claude Code split a single conversation into threads, ran them as parallel cloud sessions, and passed context between them. Now in Desktop, you can open Code, select Environment → Local, a project folder, model, and permission mode.
The limit is shared. Projects draw from the subscription limit just like regular Claude, and parallel threads use it up faster. Access is gradually rolling out to Pro and Max users.
Projects access will gradually become available to the remaining Pro and Max subscribers.
