Gemini CLI requires confirmation for risky commands: v0.61.0
On September 23, 2026, v0.61.0 was released, becoming the current stable release of Gemini CLI. In a restricted workspace, it requires explicit confirmation for commands from an untrusted context and modified build files. The release also preserves explicitly specified versioned Flash model IDs.
Previously, Gemini CLI did not request separate confirmation for such commands. It now stops before execution, and the sandbox more strictly separates project files from runtime state.
Installation. Google provides the current version with the command `npm install -g @google/gemini-cli`; Node.js 20.0.0 or later is required.
v0.61.0 is already marked as the latest stable release.
