AI now searches for molecular structures: 0.09 seconds per mass spectrum
On Sep 25, the system processed the mass spectrum of an unknown substance in 0.09 seconds. In 90.5% of test cases, the correct structure ranked among the top 100 candidates.
Chemists used to receive a mass spectrum as a fingerprint of an unknown substance. The model is now trained on spectrum–molecule pairs to map both data types into a single vector space. It returns a ranked list of structures rather than one answer.
The system is positioned as a pre-annotation tool, and a chemist's experiment validates its structure.
