Copilot brings chat, code and agents into one window: Microsoft combines 3 modes
On Sep 25, Microsoft described the new Copilot as a combination of 3 modes: Home, Code, and Autopilot. Home and Code will begin rolling out through Frontier in the coming weeks. Autopilot will expand in private preview by the end of September.
Scout used to be a separate personal assistant. Microsoft has now renamed it Autopilot and added it to Copilot alongside chat and app creation.
Builds from a description. Code creates an app, tracker, dashboard, or automation from a text prompt. It uses the same underlying technology as GitHub Copilot, runs in a sandbox, and can deploy the result within an organization’s environment.
Access through Frontier. A work account requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, Frontier enabled by an administrator, and a work account. Microsoft will move Code, Cowork, and Autopilot to usage-based pricing, while Chat and Copilot in Office apps will remain part of the fixed subscription. Microsoft did not disclose specific rates.
Code will arrive in Frontier by the end of September, with Microsoft promising a broader rollout in the coming weeks.
