Shopping moves into chat: Google assembled 50 billion product listings
On Sep 27, Google continued bringing shopping into Gemini and AI Mode. Its Shopping Graph contains 50 billion product listings, 2 billion of which are updated every hour.
Now Gemini and AI Mode can show a product, compare prices, and take users to checkout through Google Pay in a few taps. The merchant remains the party to the transaction.
Chat becomes the storefront. In the US, UCP already lets users buy products from select marketplaces directly in Gemini and AI Mode. In India, Google added product cards, comparisons, and purchase links in English and Hindi.
Google is building UCP for the entire purchase journey, from product discovery to post-order support.
