MiniMax Code now works from the terminal: CLI installs via npm
On September 18, 2026, MiniMax made MiniMax Code CLI available. Version 0.4.12 installs the mcode and mcode-tools commands. Token Plan costs $22, $55, or $132 per month and offers up to 1 million context tokens.

The public MiniMax Code repository remains a page for the desktop app: it collects issues and links to downloads for macOS and Windows. The product now also has a CLI, installed with `npm install -g @minimax-ai/code --allow-scripts=@minimax-ai/code,better-sqlite3 --registry=https://registry.npmjs.org/`, after which `mcode` is run in a project. It requires Node.js 22.19+ on the Node 22 line or Node.js 24–26. Node.js 23 is not supported.
Commands and plan. After `mcode login`, the agent understands the codebase, edits files, runs commands and tests, and saves tasks in Sessions. `mcode exec` is available for non-interactive runs, and `mcode acp` for ACP clients. MiniMax Code works directly through Token Plan without an API key, while the same plan can be connected to OpenClaw, Claude Code, Cline, and other tools with an OpenAI-compatible API via `sk-cp key`.
Plus for $22, Max for $55, and Ultra for $132 offer M3 volumes of around 1.7 billion, 5.1 billion, and 12.5 billion tokens per month. Concurrent work is designed for roughly 3–4, 4–5, and 6–7 agents respectively.
The CLI adds a terminal entry point to MiniMax Code, while the public repository remains a showcase for the desktop app for now.
