Local AI Models Fit in the HP ZBook Ultra G3a: Radeon Gets Up to 160 GB of Memory
HP unveiled the ZBook Ultra G3a 16 with 192 GB of unified memory on September 19, 2026. According to HP, the top Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 configuration runs local models with up to 300 billion parameters and is designed to run several AI agents simultaneously. Sales are expected in October 2026, with HP to announce pricing closer to launch.
The previous ZBook Ultra G1a 14 had 128 GB of unified memory, with up to 96 GB allocated to the GPU; in StorageReview's September 15, 2026 review, DeepSeek-R1 70B and QwQ 32B ran in LM Studio and Ollama, while Gemma 3 27B ran at 8.96 tokens per second. The G3a now raises the pool to 192 GB, and up to 160 GB can be allocated to the integrated Radeon as VRAM through the BIOS or graphical interface.
Not everything comes out of the box. The taskbar includes the preinstalled Perplexity Windows app: Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscribers on Windows 10 or Windows 11 can choose a local model for Portable Computer and download it with one click. Local LLMs for the ZBook itself must be installed separately. Revit 2027 will require a separate Revit Public MCP Server from Autodesk Account, after which Claude Desktop and Cursor are configured automatically.
Production systems and full StorageReview benchmarks are expected after the laptop launches in October 2026.
