Windows Prepares a Separate Space for AI Agents: An Agent Will Get Its Own Account
In Windows 11, Copilot Actions is off by default, while the experimental agent workspace creates a separate standard account for the agent. Agent actions do not run as the signed-in user. By default, it can access Documents, Downloads, Desktop, and Pictures.

In 2023, AutoGPT amassed 100 thousand stars in months, but there were almost no finished products. Windows is taking a different path: giving an AI agent a place in the system itself instead of keeping it inside a separate app.
How to enable it. Experimental capabilities are enabled in Settings > System > AI components > Agent tools > Experimental agentic features. To run untrusted code, Microsoft recommends MXC, which GitHub Copilot CLI already uses to isolate dynamically generated code.
For enterprise management, Microsoft sells Agent 365 for $15 per user per month.
