Muse can no longer buy on Amazon: the store cut off Meta's agent 12 days after launch
Amazon cut Muse off from shopping on the night of September 20: Meta's agent lasted 12 days in the store.
Ask Muse to add items to your Amazon cart, and no order will be placed. Instead, a popup appears about violating the store's rules.
Amazon blocked Meta's agent on the night of September 20, 12 days after Muse launched. The store has one rule for everyone: since March 4, 2026, an outside AI agent must identify itself as an automated system and leave on the first request.
Three complaints. Meta did not disclose that the agent would enter the store. The agent does not identify itself while browsing pages. And, in Amazon's view, it intercepts and stores shoppers' credentials.
Amazon puts the rule simply: an app that shops for a customer in someone else's store must operate openly and respect the service's decision on whether to allow it in. The store had asked Meta to remove Amazon.com from Muse before the block, but they could not reach an agreement.
Meta says Muse sees neither passwords nor payment details. Logins provided by the user go into secure storage; the agent uses them without seeing their contents, and makes purchases with a single-use card through Link by Stripe.
In 2023, AutoGPT collected 100 thousand GitHub stars in a couple of months, while almost nothing made it to a working product. Now the agent has reached the checkout, and the argument is no longer about work quality, but about whom the store lets near its shoppers.
Here is how to set it up. Muse is available as an app in the App Store and Google Play, and works on muse.ai; sign in with a phone number through a Meta account, with no Facebook or Instagram required. Launch is US-only for now, there is a free tier, Power costs $20 a month, and Maximum costs $100. Meta asks you to link a card even on the free tier, and does not disclose task limits.
Services such as Spotify, OpenTable, and Gmail connect in Settings → Connectors, the card in Settings → Wallet, and agent permissions in Settings → Permissions at the “always ask” level. The checkbox for improving models is turned off in Settings → Data Controls.
Amazon's rule applies to any outside agents, and the next test is whether other platforms follow the store's lead.
