Fable 5.1 in Kiro costs more than any other model: a 6x credit multiplier versus 2.2x for Opus 5

Fable 5.1 arrived in Kiro, but not for everyone: the model was opened only to enterprise accounts.
Opus 5 was different. It was rolled out on 24.07.2026 to the Pro plan and above right away, in two regions, with a 2,2x credit multiplier. Fable 5.1 went to a single Enterprise tier with Model Governance enabled, in one region, US East (N. Virginia), and as a preview with experimental support.
Credit math. Fable 5.1 has a 6x multiplier versus 2,2x for Opus 5. The same request uses nearly three times as much. On the Pro plan, one thousand credits costs $20 per user per month; additional credits cost $0,04 each. Unused monthly credits do not carry over.
How to enable it. An admin opens Kiro settings in the AWS Management Console, switches on Model availability, selects Fable 5.1 from the model list, and makes it available to users through “Manage approved list.” Then everyone restarts their IDE or CLI; in the web app, refreshing the page is enough. The model can be disabled there at any time.
The context window in Kiro is 1 million tokens. Kiro says the model works more efficiently as the session grows and stops earlier on an unsolvable task instead of burning credits on a dead end.
The next milestone is Fable 5.1 leaving preview in Kiro and expanding to regions beyond us-east-1.
