Codex limit depends on plan: Pro offers 5x more usage
On Sep 29, the ChatGPT pricing page promised 5 times more Pro usage and labeled Codex access on Free as Limited. Codex is included in every ChatGPT plan, including Free and Go, but limits depend on the subscription.

People are saying nasty things about OpenAI's new limits. They do not understand how much the teams at OpenAI and Anthropic do to sustain these subscription products: at best, they break even while consuming scarce compute capacity. Nobody wants to cut limits. Shouting will not help them.

On Sep 7, a user's task stopped at the 5-hour limit even though weekly capacity remained. Codex can finish an already started run, then offers to add credits, apply an available reset, change plans, or wait for a reset.
Resets have already happened. On Sep 3 and 4, OpenAI issued banked resets to eligible Plus, Pro, and Business users. On Sep 7, the company issued an immediate global reset for those plans.
A full banked reset resets the 5-hour and weekly windows, but moves the date of the next weekly reset.
