Order food by message: DoorDash recruits beta testers for its AI agent
Users will be able to confirm an order in a text conversation without opening the DoorDash app.
As of Sep 30, DoorDash is accepting sign-ups for the beta of a text-based AI agent for ordering food. It is intended for iOS users in the US.
Ordering by text. The earlier Ask DoorDash worked inside the app. Users can text the agent the name of a dish or ask for a recommendation, receive a suggested cart and confirm the order in the same conversation. The waitlist is available at doordash.com/text.
The "order my usual" command takes order history and routine dish customizations into account. For group orders, the agent supports different portion counts and participants' dietary preferences.
According to DoorDash data for June–August 2026, Ask DoorDash users discovered 40,000 restaurants they had not tried before. Nearly half of restaurant orders placed through Ask DoorDash were from restaurants the user had not tried before.
Delivery through MCP. DoorDash also opened a waitlist for its enterprise MCP connector at developer.doordash.com/mcp. It lets agents find products, build a cart, place an order and track delivery. The private beta is available to approved testers for enterprise tools, with no integration into consumer products.
